Description

An asset management firm based in Boston is seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux System Administrator to join their IT Infrastructure team. This role is essential to maintaining the firm's robust Linux system environment, managing containerization processes, and supporting cloud-based initiatives. The ideal candidate is an experienced IT professional with a sharp technical acumen, expertise in modern DevOps technologies, and a preference for working onsite. Candidates with financial services experience is preferred. This role is onsite in Boston 3-4 days a week.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and administer Linux environments, including system performance tuning, patching, and troubleshooting.
  • Manage PostgreSQL databases, ensuring data integrity and accessibility
  • Deploy, manage, and optimize containerization technologies, specifically Kubernetes and Docker, to support application development and production.
  • Implement and maintain configuration management tools, such as Puppet, to ensure consistent and reliable infrastructure.
  • Develop and execute automation scripts using Python, Bash, and Powershell to streamline system operations and administrative tasks.
  • Collaborate with developers, architects, and business stakeholders to analyze technical requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Manage and support cloud infrastructure, with an emphasis on AWS, ensuring scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor system health, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement solutions to guarantee high availability and performance of IT systems.
  • Work cross-functionally to provide support for key IT initiatives, including new installations, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for system configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Advise on best practices and emerging technologies to drive innovation and process improvements.


Requirements

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experienceas a Linux System Administrator in enterprise environments.
  • Strong proficiency in Linux OS (RHEL, CentOS, or equivalent) administration and troubleshooting.
  • Advanced experience withcontainerization technologies(Kubernetes and Docker).
  • Hands-on experience with database technologies (PostgreSQL)
  • Hands-on expertise in configuration management tools likePuppetfor infrastructure as code.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such asPython,Bash, orPowershellfor automation purposes.
  • Proven track record in managing cloud environments, specificallyAWS(experience with other cloud platforms is a plus).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
  • Strong knowledge of system security best practices (e.g., firewalls, permission models, encryption).
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges independently or collaboratively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Prior experience working withinfinancial servicesor asset management environments is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications such asAWS Solutions Architect,Linux+,orCKA(Certified Kubernetes Administrator).
  • Experience with on-premises and hybrid-cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes for incident and change management.
